Green Petal - March 5th

This week's Girl Scout meeting will focus on "Using our Resources Wisely."  We will make seedling pots from newspaper. The girls will be bringing these home, and I ask that you help them care for their flower until it is warm enough to plant directly (newspaper & all) into the ground. The newpaper will biodegrade.

Red Petal - February 19th

During our next February 19th meeting, we will be working towards earning our petal "Courageous and Strong."  We will have a guest singer/dance captain from the North Central Counterpoints demonstrating the courage to stand up in front of people and be proud of her skill.  We will talk about ways we can be courageous and make a related craft.  Can't wait to see you all there!

Cookie Money Due

Don't forget to bring your cookie money to our March 15th meeting.  It needs to be collected and turned in no later than this.

Tootsie Pop Concert Too Fun

Some of the girls from Girl Scout Troop #698 went to the Tootsie Pop Concert at North Central this past Saturday.  They listened to the orchestra and learned what kinds of sounds each instrument made.  They made their own instruments, and got a chance to play real instruments.  Most of the kids walked away determined to play an instrument.  We are so lucky to live in such an artistically talented school district.  I hope to have more girls attend next year as the girls had so much fun!

Welcome to our Journey Journal!

As you may know, Daisy Troop #698 was started this year.  And when our fearless troop leader took a full-time job, I took over for her with the help of two other moms.  The girls have already learned so much, and we are well on our way to crossing over to Brownies in the Spring.

Our Daisy Scouts will earn 10 petals and the Promise Center before the school year ends.

We have to complete two activities per petal and have earned the following to date:
  1. the Promise Center
  2. Orange- Responsible for what I do and say
  3. Purple- Respect Myself and others
  4. Rose- Make the World a Better Place
We have also earned the following patches:
  1. Cookie Leaf Patch
  2. Financial Literacy Patch

Purple Petal- Feb 5th

We worked on the Purple Petal today- Respect Myself & Others.
  • We discussed first loving and respecting yourself before you can love others properly
  • We read a book about an awkward girl turned heroine (Stand Tall Molly Lou Mellon) that shows how to be comfortable with yourself as you are.
  • We wrote ourselves valentines because we love ourselves, then made one for someone else
  • We did a relay game where we practice standing tall, balancing a book on our heads.
We had lots of practice respecting others today as we listened to each other in circle time.  I was so proud of the girls as they really worked hard on their petal!
